“I have heard that said many times and it is a great argument to switch over to macs from PCs. BUT IS IT TRUE – TELL ME! “Viruses and spyware CAN be written to target MACs specifically. The problem is, why would anyone do that? You can basically infect only 1-2% of the entire world even if it gets on 100% of the Macs out there.
There probably IS a few of viruses or spyware floating around for the Macs platform, but I would suspect that 1) they are pretty old and doesn’t get spread around anymore coz new MacOS versions have plugged the holes, or 2) they may be new, but there are not enough MacOS users to ever spread them around.
So, in the end, it would seem like you’ll never get a virus or spyware with a Mac if you’re just an average user because the chance is so low anyways.”

“Apple Mac OS 10 is a UNIX type system, based on Darwin which is based on FreeBSD. This inherently makes it more secure than a DOS type system such as Windows. Also, Macs use a different processor architecture than PCs, which means that PC code such as viruses cannot run on them.
